Polish Heritage Night with the Ottawa Senators

More than five hundred Polish fans attended the Polish Heritage Night during NHL game between Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings on November 16, 2015. Embassy of Poland in Ottawa invited representatives of Polish diaspora and friends of Poland to take part in the event. The aim of the Polish Heritage Night was to promote modern Poland, good Polish-Canadian relations and Polish heritage in Canada. MPs, journalists, business representatives, ambassadors acredited to Canada took part in the event as well. Embassy of Poland prepared two booths where guests could have learned about touristic attractions in Poland and Polish heritage in Canada. There were also Polish cold cuts samples offered by Sikrski Sausages company. Fans who bought tickets in so called “Polish” sections took part in the competition. The main prize was a 5-day trip to Poland. Fans also had the opportunity to meet with the Ottawa Senators player of Polish origin - Patrick Wiercioch. Ambassador Marcin Bosacki and President of the Polish Ice Hockey Association Dawid Chwałka presented Wiercioch with Poland’s national team jersey with his name. The event was supported by Sikorski Sausages Co. Ltd., Caravan Logistics Inc., Ursus Transport, Pure Steam Auto Spa.
